The Antonian Prep Apaches had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They secured a 52-46 W over Austin. Given Antonian Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Austin is ranked 615th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Antonian Prep was led to victory by Hannah McDonald and Kyzarriah Fox. McDonald scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals, while Fox dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Fox's 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniyah Fox, who scored six points.
Several Maroons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jill Shirk, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Shirk's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kemah Shaw, who scored eight points along with six assists.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Chaparral the next time they take the court. Antonian Prep will head out to face Chaparral at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Austin will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
