The Bryant Hornets won the last time they faced the Lakeside Rams, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Bryant took down Lakeside 53-39. Given Bryant's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Lakeside is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Lakeside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amelia Rogers. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Rogers scored a full 41% of Lakeside's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Molly Reeves, who scored 8 points.
Bryant is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Lakeside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Bryant will head out on the road to face off against Little Rock Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeside, they will be playing at home against Magnolia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Magnolia knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Lakeside likes a good challenge.
