The Wendover Wildcats had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came out on top against St. Joseph by a score of 66-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wendover to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shawn Duboise, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Duboise has scored at least 25% of Wendover's points. Another player making a difference was Raul Valle, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Wendover's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for St. Joseph, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Wendover won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tintic at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Tintic is ranked 82nd, while Wendover is ranked 73rd). St. Joseph will be home for the holidays to greet Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
