Atlantic Christian is 0-5 against Somerset Academy - Canyons since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Atlantic Christian Sharks will look to defend their home field against the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Atlantic Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Inlet Grove 32-1 on Friday. With that win, the Sharks brought their scoring average up to 11.8 runs per game.
Ryan Kimmel was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kimmel was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with six RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Atlantic Christian got a massive performance out of Reily Campusano, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, four RBI, and one double. With that strong performance, Campusano is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Giovanni Garcia was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Atlantic Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Somerset Academy - Canyons, as they earned their first road win of the season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Leonard 10-8. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Tyler Watters, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brock Shaffer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
The victory got Atlantic Christian back to even at 2-2. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Atlantic Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Somerset Academy - Canyons struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Atlantic Christian might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Somerset Academy - Canyons when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Atlantic Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
