The Lapwai Wildcats will square off against the Highland Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Lapwai's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
Lapwai is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Potlatch: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Wildcats blew the Loggers out of the water with a 75-15 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-9.
Lapwai's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madden Bisbee, who went 8-for-14 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylin Picard, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 17 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Lapwai smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Highland came up short against Deary on Thursday and fell 36-23. The game marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Lapwai will have to contain Kylee Beck as she made an impact in Highland's last game. She posted eight points and six rebounds. Beck is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Alli Mae Moddrell was another key player, putting up five points and ten boards.
Lapwai pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's matchup: Lapwai has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Highland, though, as they've only made 20.4% of their three-pointers this season. Given Lapwai's sizable advantage in that area, the Huskies will need to find a way to close that gap.
