The MacDonald Condor will face off against the Cupertino Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. MacDonald has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with six straight losses, while Cupertino will come in with four straight victories.
MacDonald is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Lynbrook by a score of 21-19 on Monday. Even though they lost, the Condor's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Maddie Pabilona was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyleena Stone, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Cupertino got the win against Monta Vista on Monday by a conclusive 17-3. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Cupertino got a massive performance out of Purani Muthuvedi, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Muthuvedi has posted since back in April. Dayoung Jung was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Cupertino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Cupertino's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for MacDonald, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. MacDonald has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Cupertino struggles in that department as they've averaged .503. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
MacDonald suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Cupertino in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Condor have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
