Jersey Village is 2-8 against Stratford since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jersey Village Falcons will host the Stratford Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Jersey Village has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Saturday just wasn't the day for Jersey Village's offense. They came up short against Klein Oak on Saturday, falling 15-0. The Falcons just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Jersey Village saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Ambrus, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Stratford came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Eagles.
Gwyn Katterhenry spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Layla Yslas was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Brooklyn Marks was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Stratford pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Jersey Village, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Jersey Village might still be hurting after the 20-10 loss they got from Stratford in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Jersey Village have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
