The Swansea Tigers will take on the Providence Athletic Club Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Swansea is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since February 24th last Wednesday. They fell just short of Bamberg-Ehrhardt by a score of 7-5.
Swansea saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyanna Myers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Myers has hit this season. Another was Jazz'Lynn Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Providence Athletic Club came tearing into Thursday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Skyhawks get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Kaylin Otey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Atalie Gauntt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Bridget Kean was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Providence Athletic Club pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Swansea, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Swansea might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Providence Athletic Club in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
