The Elk Grove Thundering Herd pushed their score all the way to 65 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sheldon. Elk Grove has struggled against Sheldon recently, as their game on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Loss or not, Elk Grove got some senior leadership from Vinny Gonzales and KyRee Fultz. Gonzales scored 13 points, while Fultz. scored 11 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Franco Ghio, who scored seven points.
Leading Sheldon to victory were Jaden Woodard and Muhammad Singleton. Woodard scored 26 points along with eight rebounds, while Singleton went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 4 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Singleton has scored all season. Tyler Rattler was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists.
Elk Grove has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Sheldon, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-8.
Elk Grove will head out on the road to take on Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Elk Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Monday. As for Sheldon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cosumnes Oaks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sheldon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 759 points over their last ten matchups.
