The Sidney Yellowjackets will venture away from home to take on the Northmont Thunderbolts at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sidney took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Fairborn. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Skyhawks: they've now won six in a row.
Michael Frazier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ethan New was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zavier Perry, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Sidney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Northmont hadn't done well against Fairmont recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Thunderbolts came out on top in a nail-biter against the Firebirds, sneaking past 5-4. The game was the first time the Thunderbolts have beaten the Firebirds on their field since April 7, 2021.
Brady Lupton and Aidan Pendleton did most of the damage at the plate: Lupton went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Pendleton went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
The win was the third in a row for Northmont, bringing their record up to 6-9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sidney, their record now sits at 4-12.
Sidney suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Northmont in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
