Knox Central hasn't had much luck against North Laurel recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will host the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Knox Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Knox Central will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Clay County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers walked away with a 6-3 win over the Tigers on Monday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly three runs.

Hayden Melton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Knox Central is undefeated when Melton posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Bentley Cobb looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Knox Central: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-4 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Matthew Powenski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Knox Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Laurel, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Harlan County get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Black Bears: they've now won five in a row.
North Laurel's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Knox Central, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
