The Dixie Hornets were the 56-50 winner over the Calhoun Falls Charter Blue Flashes when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Dixie took a 62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Flashes on Tuesday.
When it comes to explaining why Dixie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaren Byers. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals. Staylon Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Dixie's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.
Dixie will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Hornets are ranked 119th). As for Calhoun Falls Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge the Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. McCormick is on a nine-game streak of home wins, the Blue Flashes a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
