Basketball Recap: Severance Skates Past Village with Ease

Severance posted their biggest victory since January 31st on Saturday. They blew past the Village Mountaineers 61-26.

Blake Varney was a one-man wrecking crew for Severance as he went 7 for 13 on his way to 20 points. That's the most points Varney has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Damarii Wright, who posted eight points and three steals.

Severance smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carter Sterk, who had nine points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Caleb Heath, who put up eight points and four blocks.

Severance is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Village, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Severance will venture away from home to face off against Berthoud at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berthoud has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Village, they will be taking part in a tournament against Arvada at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
