Dirigo extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping them up to 7-8. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Maranacook Black Bears. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Trevor Crosby was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. Crosby was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Hudson Lufkin and Kaeden Swan did most of the damage at the plate: Lufkin got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Swan got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs. Swan has become a key player for Dirigo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Clark Averill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Dirigo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maranacook only posted an OBP of .447.
As for Maranacook, with the loss, they broke their 13-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-3. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.94 runs allowed.
On Maranacook's side, Noah Longfellow and Carter Nelson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Longfellow went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Nelson went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Alex Spaulding also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Looking ahead, Dirigo will be playing in front of their home fans against Monmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Maranacook does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
