ThunderRidge (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and
Regis Jesuit (Aurora, Colo.) both tightened up defensively, but ThunderRidge managed to score enough to pull out the 14-10 victory.
The Grizzlies scored on two rushing touchdowns to pull out the win.
The Raiders pulled ahead on a field goal by
Harrison Thrasher, and subsequently went into halftime leading 10-7. ThunderRidge scored the winning points with a
Jake Hand touchdown run that came in the third quarter.
Regis Jesuit's
Matt Houghtaling played well. The sophomore quarterback threw one touchdown.
THS's most effective player was Hand. He ran for two touchdowns.
RJ's lone touchdown came on a 24-yard pass from Houghtaling to
Alex Mitchell in the first quarter.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 10-3 win for the Highlands Ranch school.
With the win the Grizzlies extended their winning streak to four games.
In a 5A Continental game next week ThunderRidge (4-1) takes on Highlands Ranch, and Regis Jesuit (2-3) will go up against Douglas County also in a 5A Continental game.
