Video: Not Top 5 Plays of the Year See the plays that didn't go according to plan.
Now that the Nebraska prep baseball season has come to a conclusion, we have decided to comb through our baseball statistics database and display what we believe are the Top 10 single-game offensive performances in the Cornhusker State this spring.
And we were not disappointed.
Millard South's Jake Gish leads off this week's Top 10 with what we believe was the top offensive performance of 2018. Gish went 3-for-4 from the plate, scored a couple of times and knocked in seven runs in a 10-5 triumph over Millard North March 23.
The second team All-Nebraska selection by the Omaha World Herald also landed in the No. 3 spot following a two home run outing that allowed six runs to cross the plate in a 15-3 win over Papillion-LaVista South April 10.
Trevor Kaslon of Columbus grabbed the runner-up spot with a 4-for-4 performance that plated seven runs in a 13-6 win over Bellevue West. Kaslon belted two home runs and a triple in the outing and scored two runs himself. Waverly's Jay Adams, who collected second team Super-State honors from the Lincoln Journal Star, claimed the fourth spot, while Matt Hotovy of Elkhorn rounds out this week's Top 5.
Six athletes tied for the final five spots based on a point system that we used to determine this week's Top 10. Eight of Nebraska's top baseball programs placed at least one player in this week's Top 10 with Millard South, Columbus and Elkhorn all placing athletes in two spots. Kaslon came up just a double short of hitting for the cycle in his incredible performance.
