The Chatham Charter Knights waltzed into their match on Friday with 14 straight wins but they left with 15. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Southern Wake Academy 77-6 at home. Chatham Charter has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Chatham Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Meah Brooks led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five assists and five steals. Brooks hasn't dropped below 18 points for eight straight games. Hannah Headen was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southern Wake Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-7) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Chatham Charter pushed their record up to 20-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Southern Wake Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-19.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatham Charter will square off against River Mill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chatham Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully River Mill likes a good challenge. As for Southern Wake Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Woods Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
