The Kearney Bearcats will head out on the road to square off against the Standing Bear Grizzlies at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kearney was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Bellevue East 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kearney got a great performance from Owen Waha as he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Waha has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kearney's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Andersen, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Standing Bear entered their tilt with Elkhorn on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the Antlers.
Kameron Foster made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Foster was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Standing Bear let Jaxson Minzel and Jackson Froeschl run wild. Minzel got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Froeschl went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. What's more, Minzel posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Schultz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Standing Bear was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Kearney has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Standing Bear, their record now sits at 7-13.
