The Sharon Tigers will head out to challenge the Mercer Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sharon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Mercer's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sharon barely beat Hickory the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 8-2 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Coen Fertig was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Fertig was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Thomas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Santino Gavin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Sharon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hickory only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Mercer ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out West Middlesex 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Cole Fisher was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Sharon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mercer, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sharon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mercer struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
