The La Vega Pirates came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 56.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Salado on the road to the tune of 83-29. Given La Vega's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Salado is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Vega pushed their record up to 24-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.5 points per game. As for Salado, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.
