Aubrey Shaffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Olivia Stock was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addi Bracco, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Connellsville came out on top against Peters Township on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Falcons put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Connellsville also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kendal King gave up only one earned run on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cali Leichliter, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Maggie Orndorff was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Connellsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peters Township only posted a batting average of .167.
Thomas Jefferson pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Connellsville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Thomas Jefferson beat Connellsville 8-4 when the teams last played on Monday. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
