Caldera hasn't had much luck against Bend recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Caldera will be playing in front of their home fans against Bend at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Caldera put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They put the hurt on South Salem with a sharp 23-3 win. With that victory, Caldera brought their scoring average up to 7.4 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Morgan Voll, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Morton, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4.
Voll wasn't the only one making solid contact: Caldera kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bend ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out West Albany 11-10. The win was some much needed relief for the Lava Bears as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
MacKenzie Shaughnessy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Lauren Glasser was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Caldera's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7. As for Bend, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Caldera hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bend struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Caldera suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Bend in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Caldera have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
