On Thursday, the Meridian Yellowjackets's game was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 32-31 win over Live Oak Classical. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Meridian.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julia Pitts, who scored six points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Sriram, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Live Oak Classical struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meridian's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Live Oak Classical, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Meridian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. As for Live Oak Classical, they will be playing at home against Bruceville-Eddy at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
