The win was all the more spectacular given Sand Creek's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Pueblo County is ranked 69th).
Sand Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wuol Chak, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Elijah Brotherns, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Sand Creek's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Pueblo County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.
Sand Creek will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Ponderosa is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. Pueblo County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against La Junta at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. La Junta has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
