The Sutton Sammies were the 46-29 winner over the Whitinsville Christian Crusaders when they last played one another on January 9th, but their luck changed this time around. Sutton fell just short of Whitinsville Christian by a score of 46-44.
Several Sammies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cam Benedict, who scored 14 points. Chase Gara was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Cam Desmarais was a one-man wrecking crew for Whitinsville Christian as he scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Zeke Plantinga, who scored 11 points.
Sutton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Whitinsville Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sutton will square off against Douglas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whitinsville Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Nipmuc Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nipmuc Regional presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Whitinsville Christian in Massachusetts (Nipmuc Regional is ranked 90th, while Whitinsville Christian is ranked 226th).
