Jones will head out to challenge Hancock at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jones has eight straight wins, Hancock has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Jones' victory against Lake View wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Wildcats on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 11th.

Anna Black was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other pitching news, Alisha Verma looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Black wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jamilette Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hancock fell victim to Taft and their airtight pitching crew last Tuesday. They came up short against Taft, falling 13-0. The shutout was out of character for Hancock seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
Jones pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
Hancock's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jones has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .581. It's a different story for Hancock, though, as they've only averaged .304. Will they be able to contain Jones' hitters?
Jones couldn't quite get it done against Hancock in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Can Jones avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
