The Douglas County Tigers lost against the Langston Hughes Panthers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Douglas County took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Langston Hughes. Douglas County has not had much luck with Langston Hughes recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Richards, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The contest was Richards' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Marquacious Wright, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Langston Hughes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brentis Schaeffer, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Jaron LeMelle was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Douglas County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Langston Hughes, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglas County will take on East Paulding at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Paulding will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Douglas County is ranked 130th). As for Langston Hughes, they will head out on the road to face off against Alexander at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
