After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pleasant View Christian, Clarksville Christian were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They took down Big Sandy 68-54.
Clarksville Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jesiah Sutton out in front who scored 16 points. Sutton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Cyler Middleton was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
When it comes to explaining why Big Sandy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cole Pierpoint. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Pierpoint's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Barnes, who scored 11 points.
Clarksville Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Big Sandy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarksville Christian will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Stewart County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stewart County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Big Sandy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Livingston Central at 1:30 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Livingston Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
