Lennard and East Bay are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Lennard Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the East Bay Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lennard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully East Bay likes a good challenge.
Lennard pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 78-56 walloping at the hands of Plant City. While losing is never fun, Lennard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while Plant City is ranked 110th).
East Bay only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 22-point they dealt Riverview on Wednesday. East Bay was the clear victor by a 63-41 margin over Riverview. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory East Bay has posted yet this season.
East Bay can attribute much of their success to Amare Baran, who scored 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Curry Staples, who scored 11 points.
Lennard has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for East Bay, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9.
Lennard strolled past East Bay in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 73-59. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Baran, who scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lennard still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
