Baseball Game Preview: Warren/Stockton Warhawks vs. Lena-Winslow Panthers

Warren/Stockton is 8-2 against Lena-Winslow since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warhawks will venture away from home to take on the Panthers at 4:30 p.m.

Warren/Stockton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Byron on Saturday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warhawks have suffered since March 28th.

Meanwhile, Lena-Winslow came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Indians. 14 seems to be a good number for the Panthers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Not much got past Luke Madigan, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Winnebago off the board. Madigan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Miles Mahon was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Cohen Weegens was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Lena-Winslow pushed their record up to 18-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Warren/Stockton, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

Warren/Stockton beat Lena-Winslow 6-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
