Russell is 0-10 against Boyd County since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Tuesday. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out eight batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits. Patel has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in 19 consecutive pitching appearances. Patel was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances with a  double and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Paige Hutchinson was  incredible,  scoring four  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4.  Ava Howard was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing three bases while going 3-for-5.
 Meanwhile, Boyd County came up short against Lincoln County on Thursday and fell  9-4. Boyd County has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Russell's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Boyd County, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14.
