The Viera Hawks will challenge the Eau Gallie Commodores at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Viera has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Viera made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hagerty, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hawks fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Isabella Kapatoes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Viera saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamryn Potts, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eau Gallie entered their tilt with Harmony on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Longhorns 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Commodores, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Eau Gallie got a massive performance out of Shyla Eppert, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Leech, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Eau Gallie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
Eau Gallie's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Viera, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Viera hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eau Gallie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
