The Dupo Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the East Alton-Wood River Oilers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dupo gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Valmeyer as they made off with an 18-1 victory. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Kylie Kloess made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Keara Prater was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaylyn Woods was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Dupo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive contests.
East Alton-Wood River not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 13-3). They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over Metro-East Lutheran. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Oilers.
Like Dupo, East Alton-Wood River also got a great game from a two-way player: Ellie Beachum. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Beachum was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camey Adams, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Lily Tretter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Dupo's record now sits at 11-9. As for East Alton-Wood River, their record is now 10-12.
Dupo skirted past East Alton-Wood River 5-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
