Clarke Prep has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Bessemer Academy Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clarke Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while Bessemer Academy is ranked 61st).
Clarke Prep suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-28 loss at the hands of Morgan Academy. Clarke Prep has not had much luck with Morgan Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Bessemer Academy came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 79-25 win over Monroe Academy at home. Bessemer Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Among those leading the charge was Jacob Brister, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyseon Smith, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Clarke Prep's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Bessemer Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.
Clarke Prep might still be hurting after the 51-31 defeat they got from Bessemer Academy in their previous matchup on Friday. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Clarke Prep was down 40-11.
