Softball Recap: West Stanly Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

West Stanly won the last time they faced Forest Hills and things went their way on Tuesday too. The West Stanly Colts' pitchers stepped up to hand the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Colts have won five contests by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Katie Broadaway looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Stanly let Saylor Edwards and Makayla Crayton run wild. Edwards scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Crayton scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was Edwards' first of the season. Kennedy Austin was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West Stanly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forest Hills only posted an OBP of .000.

West Stanly's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Forest Hills, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, West Stanly will head out to face off against Anson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Forest Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Forest Hills has given up an average of 19.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
