Baseball Game Preview: Lake Forest Academy Caxys vs. Waukegan Bulldogs

The Lake Forest Academy Caxys will head out to take on the Waukegan Bulldogs at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Lake Forest Academy has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lake Forest Academy managed to slip by Francis W. Parker the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Caxys lost 12-4 to the Colonels on Wednesday.

Landon Fraser was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Fraser was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Parker Pollak was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Lake Forest Academy is 3-1 when Pollak posts two or more runs, but 0-10 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Waukegan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Lake Forest, falling 8-0. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly eight runs.

Waukegan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Lake Forest Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Lake Forest Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Caxys have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Waukegan, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lake Forest Academy continue to outrun the ball?

Lake Forest Academy might still be hurting after the 18-3 loss they got from Waukegan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Caxys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
