Thousand Islands is 0-4 against Morrisville-Eaton since September of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Vikings will take on the Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Thousand Islands is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Bishop Grimes to the tune of 46-18 on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-6.
Thousand Islands found their leader in sophomore Thomas Bernhardt, who rushed for 175 yards and one TD while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jacob Coyne was another key player, gaining 50 total yards.
Thousand Islands was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 238 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Meanwhile, Morrisville-Eaton faced South Lewis in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mavericks never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 68-0 win. The Mavericks have beaten the Falcons the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.
Thousand Islands better keep an eye on Mason Marland. He was instrumental in Morrisville-Eaton's win, rushing for 129 yards and two scores on only nine carries. Marland also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making six total tackles, and defending one pass. Wesley Dimperio was in the mix too, providing Morrisville-Eaton with two touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Morrisville-Eaton's defense and their five sacks. Cade Zaleski was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Morrisville-Eaton received some extra help from Marland, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Morrisville-Eaton's record now sits at 4-2. As for Thousand Islands, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Thousand Islands took a serious blow against Morrisville-Eaton when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 48-0. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
