The Jefferson City Jays's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 73-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of East St. Louis. While losing is never fun, Jefferson City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 284th in Missouri, while East St. Louis is ranked 95th in Illinois).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East St. Louis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Arlandis Browm, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Browm scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert McCline, who scored 19 points.
Jefferson City has fallen quite a ways from their 26-8 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for East St. Louis, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson City will challenge Blue Springs at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blue Springs is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. East St. Louis will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Pekin on Wednesday.
