Two dominant guards in Luke Coletta and Grant Thompson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Chatham HomeSchool Thunder will jump right back in to play the KACHEA Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chatham HomeSchool has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while KACHEA will come in with four straight wins.
Chatham HomeSchool saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They fell 68-55 to Fredericksburg V.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Coletta, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Teague, who shot 43% from the field en route to 14 points.
Even though they lost, Chatham HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, KACHEA got the win against Appalachian Christian HomeSchool on Friday by a conclusive 69-48.
KACHEA's win came from a few key players Chatham HomeSchool will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Noah Coclough, who went 10-for-16 to rack up 23 points and four steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024. Thompson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine assists.
KACHEA's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-13. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games. As for Chatham HomeSchool, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-16.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Chatham HomeSchool and KACHEA are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Chatham HomeSchool hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.9 points per game. However, it's not like KACHEA struggles in that department as they've been averaging 59.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Chatham HomeSchool took their win against KACHEA when the teams last played back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 60-34. Does Chatham HomeSchool have another victory up their sleeve, or will KACHEA turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
