Itasca is 0-7 against Rio Vista since February of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wampus Cats will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Itasca took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Blum, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wampus Cats narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bobcats 16-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wampus Cats have posted since February 28th.

Itasca got a massive performance out of Tatum Abrego, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Abrego is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Malke, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Rio Vista made easy work of Blum last Friday and carried off a 16-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brecken Deets made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Deets was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Kalli West was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Ayden Greenslade was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Rio Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.
Itasca is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Rio Vista, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Itasca hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .391. However, it's not like Rio Vista struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Itasca couldn't quite finish off Rio Vista when the teams last played back in March and fell 9-7. Will the Wampus Cats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
