After a string of eight wins, the Brewer Bears's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Midlothian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brewer has scored all season.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julian Perez, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Perez scored a full 41.7% of Brewer's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tre King, who scored six points.
Midlothian found their leader in underclassman Jacob Almodovar, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Ricks, who scored six points.
Brewer's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Midlothian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Brewer is on the road again on Thursday and play against Kaufman at 6:20 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Kaufman knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Brewer likes a good challenge. Midlothian and Wylie East will round out the year against one another at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday at.
