Baseball Recap: Babcock Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Babcock, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Lehigh Lightning on Thursday as they made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the Trailblazers have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Rayden Waletko was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Babcock is undefeated when Waletko allows one or fewer hits, but 7-8 otherwise. Waletko was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brodie Duncan was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paxton Cooper, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Babcock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Babcock pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Lehigh, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Babcock and Lehigh are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Trailblazers will face off against Sarasota Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Babcock's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blazers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Lehigh, they will square off against North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lightning surely won't give up without a fight.
