Westhill and the Bears are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Westhill Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Chittenango Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westhill will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, Westhill didn't have too much trouble with the Purple Tigers on the road as they won 69-50. Given Westhill's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Purple Tigers are ranked 579th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Chittenango unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Institute of Tech. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chittenango has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jack Lamphere, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Bernardo Bortovski was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Westhill's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Chittenango, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.
Westhill beat the Bears 84-77 when the teams last played back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Chittenango's Ryan Moesch, who scored 46 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Westhill still be able to contain Moesch? There's only one way to find out.
