League recap: Xavier tops Linn-Mar to extend winning streak

Xavier extended the longest winning streak in 4A Mississippi Valley - Valley this week by beating Linn-Mar, 42-6. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.

Jefferson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Layne Sullivan has thrown for 461 yards this season, while Ben Koering has seven catches for 118 yards. Sullivan also leads the league in rushing with 131 yards.

Prairie made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,637 from 5,979. The improvement came about via a 31-7 victory over Waterloo West last week.
