Baseball Recap: Rehoboth Christian Comes Up Short

Rehoboth Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Melrose Buffaloes.

Kodah Chapman and Trajen West put in work no matter where they played. Throwing, Chapman pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, West tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Chapman scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while West scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Those three hits gave Chapman a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zach VanDrunen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Zylstra was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Rehoboth Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Melrose only managed ten hits.

Rehoboth Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Melrose, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rehoboth Christian will challenge Gallup at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rehoboth Christian is facing Gallup at the right time seeing as Gallup is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Melrose, they will take on Santa Rosa at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
