Basketball Recap: Leon Sets Scoring Season-High Against FAMU DRS

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leon). They really took it to the FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-38 win. While the Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tristen Thompson had a dynamite game for Leon, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Pensel, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 10 points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Leon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Leon's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for FAMU DRS, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Leon will take on Taylor County in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for FAMU DRS, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Marianna at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marianna will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something FAMU DRS surely won't give up without a fight.
