The Hiram Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Cartersville Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hiram has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 310 points over their last seven games.
Hiram pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-35 walloping at the hands of Calhoun. Hiram was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kaden Hamilton, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Hamilton was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards. Chase Tyler also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cartersville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They took their matchup against Cass 21-14. 21 seems to be a good number for Cartersville as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Cartersville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was A'darrian Taylor-wilson, who picked up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Cartersville's victory bumped their season record to 7-0 while Hiram's loss dropped theirs to 6-1.
Hiram ended up a good deal behind Cartersville when the teams last played back in October of 2022, losing 44-26. Can Hiram avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
