Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 26% better than the opposition, a fact the Green Forest Tigers proved on Friday. They walked away with a 54-46 win over School of the Ozarks. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Green Forest also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
It was another big night for Brayden Compton, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Green Forest's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hesten Maybee, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals.
School of the Ozarks' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Widner, who scored 12 points along with 5 steals. Widner has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Graham Wilhoit was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 11 rebounds.
Green Forest's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for School of the Ozarks, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.
Green Forest will play host again and welcome Lincoln, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for School of the Ozarks, they will head out on the road to face off against Bradleyville at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
