The St. Anselm's Abbey Panthers suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 60-25 loss at the hands of McKinley Tech. While losing is never fun, St. Anselm's Abbey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while McKinley Tech is ranked 11th).
DaMontae Neclos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for McKinley Tech, scoring 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Benning, who scored ten points.
St. Anselm's Abbey's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for McKinley Tech, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-8.
St. Anselm's Abbey's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Model Secondary School for the Deaf at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Model Secondary School for the Deaf is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for McKinley Tech, they will head out on the road to challenge Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11.
