The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Stewart County Rebels at 7:30 p.m. Stewart County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Heritage Christian Academy, who comes in off a win.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Heritage Christian Academy proved on Tuesday. They took down Foundation Christian Academy 69-52. The win was just what Heritage Christian Academy needed coming off of a 92-42 defeat in their prior game.
Heritage Christian Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Layton Giltner, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds, and Jason Leek, who scored 24 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Giltner has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Bolinger, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Stewart County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Trigg County at home by a decisive 61-44 margin. While losing is never fun, Stewart County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 403rd in Tennessee, while Trigg County is ranked 180th in Kentucky).
Heritage Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Stewart County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
